How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Flower Colour Palette
One of the biggest decisions when planning your wedding flowers is choosing a colour palette. Your flowers set the tone for the day, bringing together your style, venue, and overall wedding vision. But with so many options, it can feel overwhelming. Should you go bold or soft? Classic or modern? Seasonal or sentimental?
To make it easier, I’ve designed seven stunning colour palettes in the Happily Ever After Collection, each designed to bring effortless beauty to your day. Here’s how to find the one that’s right for you.
I’ve also included some examples of flowers you might find in each palette. Bear in mind though, that the list of choice throughout the season is endless and changes week to week! The flowers in the collection are cut specially for your wedding and therefore the best flowers in the field will be chosen ensuring that every arrangement is filled with the best, freshest blooms at the time.
1. Timeless Classic – Whites & Greens
If you love understated elegance (without the fuss), this is for you. White and green flowers are effortlessly sophisticated, fresh, and work in any venue. They complement every dress colour and never go out of style—perfect for couples who want a chic, natural feel.
Best for: Traditional, minimalist, or garden weddings. Works beautifully in country houses, barns, and outdoor settings and works right throughout the wedding season. In April, spring flowers such as tulips, ranunculus and blossom steal the show, mid summer delicate dancing flowers such as sweet pea, corncockles and ammi, and finally in September with dahlia and grasses. Leafy, fresh greens carry throughout the season for texture and movement.
2. Love Hearts – A Mix of Pinks
For couples who want a fun and romantic feel, this palette is a beautiful mix of pink tones, from soft blush to some vibrant pops of colour. It’s playful yet timeless, adding warmth and joy to your wedding day.
Best for: Whimsical, boho, or modern weddings with a lively and romantic atmosphere. Pink works wonderfully throughout the season but my favourite time has to be around June where the garden roses and sweet peas in beautiful pinks steal the show - with both looks and scent. Cosmos are some of my favourite pinks and who can forget the incredible peony.
3. Blushing Bride – Soft Blush Pinks, Nudes & Whites
A delicate, dreamy choice for those who love soft and romantic tones. Blushing Bride is all about subtle, elegant beauty with a touch of vintage charm - paired back from the pink ‘Love Hearts’ above, focusing on very soft, dusky pinks, nudes and blush tones only.
Best for: Classic, elegant, or rustic weddings that embrace a soft and timeless feel. This palette works with almost every choice of outfit, completing both deeper and lighter shades of bridesmaid dress and attire. It’s extremely popular for outdoor weddings - looking fantastic in the summer light in marquees and tipis. All my absolute favourite flowers can be found in this palette throughout the season - roses, peonies, sweet peas and cosmos in mid summer. An elegant, dancing delight!
4. Rainbow Sherbet – Bright, Playful & Full of Joy
If you love colour and want your flowers to bring energy and happiness to your day, this palette is for you! With a mix of vibrant hues, Rainbow Sherbet is all about celebration.
Best for: Summer, festival-style, or fun-loving weddings with a carefree spirit. The most vibrant colour palettes work best in high summer, when the sun is high and the light makes these jewels shine! You can expect a whole mixture of wild flower type flowers at this time. In Spring - tulips, muscari, ranunculas and early flowering clematis can still bring a colourful feel.
5. Lemon Drops – A Perfect Mix of Yellows & Whites
Bright yet soft, Lemon Drops is a refreshing palette that brings warmth and sunshine to any wedding. Its uplifting feel is perfect for couples who love something a little different. I feel yellow is underrated - but I don’t mean bright, garish yellow. Soft subtle tones of lemon and yellow, mixed well with the right amount of white and foliage looks absolutely stunning.
Best for: Spring and summer weddings with a fresh, cheerful vibe. Again this palette works all the way through from April to September - we start with softer creamy yellows of the narcissi and then head into the slightly bolder mid summer colours as the season progresses. Again - roses and dahlias are popular choices as focal flowers against the whites of cosmos and corncockles dancing beautifully in the bouquets.
6. Lavender Dream – A Soft Mix of Lilacs, Purples & Whites
For a romantic, slightly whimsical look, Lavender Dream blends soft purples, lilacs, and whites for a dreamy, ethereal aesthetic. This is where the blue flowers shine- confused? Blue flowers to florists are typically what the public call purple or lilac - just to make things awkward!
Best for: Countryside, rustic, or enchanted garden-style weddings. Tall spikes of delphinium, budhlia, sweet peas, clematis, Cupid’s dart and the stunning smell of phlox. Scabiousa are also a personal favourite that treat us with their presence throughout the season.
7. Cassis Crush – Deep Berry & Burgundy with Softer Tones
For couples who love a bold yet elegant look, Cassis Crush is rich in depth with deep berry and burgundy hues, softened by complementary tones.
Best for: Late summer/early autumn weddings, candlelit receptions, or couples who love a dramatic aesthetic. This palette naturally lends itself to the end of the season, as the light starts to dip and the evenings draw in. Autumn colours start to appear in the garden. The deeper shades of dahlia and rudbekia with physocarpus foliage and daucus, all give this colour palette a deep and rich feel.
How to Choose the Right Palette for You
